§ Mr. Lang[holding answer 5 November 1991]: The running costs of the Scottish Office information directorate for each year from 1985–86 are as follows:

- Road Safety: 8–21 April, 6–19 May, 3–16 June, 2–29 September; Faulds Advertising, Edinburgh.
- School Boards: 19 August–27 September; Faulds Advertising.
- Crime Prevention: 7 October–3 November, Faulds Avertising.
- Rent to Mortgage: 14 October–4 November, The Leith Agency, Edinburgh.
- Fire Prevention: January-February 1992, Faulds Advertising.
There have been no other campaigns costing more than£100,000 carried out and none are planned.
The Forestry Commission has carried out no television campaigns.
The only publicity campaign costing more than £100,000 carried out by the Commission was:
Promotion of the Woodland Grant Scheme: 4 June—continuing; Hall Advertising, Edinburgh and Brown Associated, Edinburgh.Expenditure on television advertising and other publicity is an operational matter for the Scottish Development Agency's successor body, Scottish Enterprise, and its local enterprise companies. I understand, however, that Scottish Enterprise has no plans for television advertising this financial year.
