HC Deb 05 November 1991 vol 198 cc102-3W
Ms. Harman

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will give, for the most recent year, the percentage of birthweights under 1500g and the stillbirth and neonatal mortality rates for babies whose mothers(a) delivered at a domestic address and originally intended to do so, (b) originally intended to deliver in a national health service hospital but delivered at a domestic address as a result of circumstances which occurred unintentionally during labour, (c) originally intended to deliver at a domestic address but delivered in a national health service hospital as a result of a decision made during labour for clinical or other reasons or (d) delivered in a national health service hospital and originally intended to do so.

Mrs. Virginia Bottomley

The information requested is not available. Data relating to maternity episodes are collected via the hospital episode statistics—HES—system which will in future years provide some of this information. HES data for 1989–90, the latest year currently available, are not of sufficient quality to allow analysis at this level of detail.
