To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) if he will publish a table showing the level of recorded crimes in the categories(a) burglaries, (b) crimes of violence against the person and (c) property theft, including theft from vehicles, for each police authority in England in 1979, 1989 and 1990;

(2) if he will publish a table showing the level of recorded crimes in the categories (a) burglaries, (b) crimes of violence against the person and (c) property theft, including theft from vehicles, for each police authority in Wales in 1979, 1989 and 1990.

Information on notifiable offences of violence against the person, burglary and theft and handling stolen goods by police force area is published annually in "Criminal Statistics, England and Wales". The information is given in table 32 of the issue for 1979 and table 2.5 for 1989. Copies of these publications are available in the Library. Corresponding figures for 1990 have also been placed in the Library.
