Mr. Corbett

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what comments he has received from Her Majesty's inspector of constabulary on the effect of the Government's proposed poll tax capping of Warwickshire county council on policing within the county.

Mr. Peter Lloyd

Her Majesty's inspector of constabulary will report on the Warwickshire constabulary following his inspection of the force on 7 to 9 May. No specific comments have been received on the effect of the proposed cap.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what representations he has received from the chief constable of Warwickshire on the likely impact of the Government's proposed poll tax capping of Warwickshire county council.

My right hon. Friend has received no such representations since my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment announced on 3 April his proposals for capping a number of local authorities, including Warwickshire.
