§ Mr. HinchliffeTo ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what proportion of the funding to be raised by the proposed new foundation for sport and arts he proposes to be spent on the ground improvements required as a result of the Safety at Sports Grounds Act 1987 and the Taylor report.
§ Mr. MellorIt will be for the trustees, not for me, to propose in detail how funds are allocated once the foundation is established. However, I understand from the proposers that it is not the intention to make funds available to clubs in the Football or Scottish Football Leagues, or to any of our national football stadia. They already benefit from the arrangements announced in last year's Budget for spending on safety improvements to grounds.
