To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many houses were available for rent by local authorities in Scotland in each year since 1980; and if he will make a statement.

[holding answer 20 June 1991]: Information on the numbers of dwellings owned by local authorities is given in table 2 of statistical bulletin HSG/1991/4, "Housing Trends in Scotland—Quarter ended 31 December 1990".
