Whether they will provide the following figures for expenditure on books in colleges of further education in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales respectively, in 1989/90:
- (a) total spending per local authority on all books;
- (b) total spending on all books;
- (c) total spending per local authority on library books;
- (d) total spending on library books;
- (e) average spending per capita (full time equivalent student) on all books;
- (f) average spending per capita (full time equivalent student) on library books;
- (g) average spending per capita (full time equivalent student) per local authority on all books;
- (h) average spending per capita (full time equivalent student) per local authority on library books.
§ Baroness BlatchThe available information on local education authorities' spending and per capita spending on books and educational equipment in colleges of higher and further education and tertiary colleges is shown in the table. Information relating only to further education colleges is not readily available. Separate information on library books is not collected centrally, and the table shows combined figures in respect of books and equipment because not all local authorities' returns to government departments give separate figures for books and for educational equipment. Information for England is not yet available, and for Northern Ireland is not collected centrally.
