HL Deb 25 July 1991 vol 531 c83WA
Lord Denning

asked her Majesty's Government:

Further to the Answer of the Baroness Blatch on 10th July (H.L. Deb., col. WA 91), whether, in view of the inconclusive nature of the Answer, it is to be inferred that the conclusive answer should be "yes" to each part of the question.

Baroness Blatch

My reply to the noble Lord on 10th July (H.L. Deb., col.WA 91) makes clear that the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by Section 2 of the Education Act 1973 are intended primarily to enable the assets of discontinued denominational voluntary schools to be recycled for the benefit of other such schools. Provision for a Sunday School fund in respect of any foundation proposed for inclusion in an order under Section 2 of the 1973 Act is considered where a request for such a fund has been made by the trustees.
