HC Deb 24 July 1991 vol 195 cc632-3W
19. Mr. Rowlands

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will make a statement on the United Kingdom's relations with Yugoslavia.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

The United Kingdom is playing its full part in monitoring the ceasefire agreed on 8 July. Only the peoples of Yugoslavia themselves can decide the future of their country. But we stand ready to do whatever we can to help, co-operating closely with our EC and western partners.

Mr. William Ross

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what proposals have been made by the European Community monitoring team to extend their monitoring of the situation in Yugoslavia to the republics of Croatia and Bosnia and Hercegovina; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

Under the terms at the ceasefire agreed between the European Community Troika and Yugoslavia representatives at Brioni on 8 July EC monitors are already operating in Croatia. We have no plans at present to extend the remit to include Bosnia-Hercegovina.
