§ Mr. Douglas HoggWe and our western partners have consistently made clear our preference for a single Yugoslav political entity, and have called on all Yugoslav republics to avoid unilateral actions which may jeopardise negotiations to secure a new basis for Yugoslav unity. But this cannot be brought about by force. We are opposed to intimidation or coercion of democratically elected Governments in Slovenia and Croatia, as elsewhere.
