HL Deb 17 January 1991 vol 524 c84WA
Lord Mulley

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they can now give assurances that no medical school will receive a lower central grant from the National Health Service by virtue of its not having been approved as a trust hospital or having not thought fit to apply for such status.

Baroness Hooper

Medical schools are not funded by the National Health Service, but hospitals which provide facilities for teaching undergraduate medical students are compensated for the additional costs involved. The amount paid is not dependent on whether the hospital is managed by a district health authority or a NHS trust.
