HL Deb 17 January 1991 vol 524 cc83-4WA
Baroness Robson of Kiddington

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many people are employed in the Income Generation Unit at the Department of Health, and what is the cost of running that unit.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Health (Baroness Hooper)

Seven people are currently employed in the Income Generation Unit (whole time equivalent 5.5). The unit's running costs in 1990–91 will be approximately £271,800. This is calculated using the average salaries, plus on-costs for accommodation, office services etc. for each staff grade in the unit and includes budgets for travel and publicity. The income generation initiative generated £26.8 million of extra resources for the NHS in 1989–90 and over £51 million is anticipated in 1990–91.
