§ Mr. Dorrell[holding answer 11 February 1991]: Financial returns submitted by district health authorities in England show the average cost per out-patient attendance as £24.86 for 1988–89, and £26.58—provisional figure—for 1989–90. These figures are average for all specialties, and cover direct consultation-treatment costs only.
