HC Deb 08 February 1991 vol 185 c283W
Mr. Galbraith

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what arrangements are being made to evacuate British citizens in eastern Saudi Arabia.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

We do not think that the situation in eastern Saudi Arabia calls for the evacuation of British nationals. However, we have advised dependants to leave and while air services were suspended we arranged seats on aircraft organised by the Ministry of Defence. It is now possible to leave by commercial services from Riyadh and Jeddah, and travel by road between eastern Saudi Arabia and these cities is not a problem.
