HC Deb 07 February 1991 vol 185 cc222-3W
Mr. Wray

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment when Her Majesty's Government expect the full implementation of the common method of measuring pollution agreed at the OECD meeting on Wednesday 30 January.

Mr. Baldry

At the meeting of OECD Environment Ministers held in Paris on 30–31 January, all OECD member countries agreed that improvements in the coverage and reliability of environmental information need to be speeded up over the next decade. The Government fully endorse this OECD initiative and the United Kingdom will continue to be active, with our OECD colleagues, in attempting to reach this goal. Indeed, the Government have been a leading advocate in establishing the European Environment Agency to improve information and its comparability between Community countries.
