§ Mr. DorrellAs a result of medical advances, the skill and flexibility of national health service staff and the Government's continued commitment and support, a wide range of new operations and treatments have become available through the National Health Service since 1979. Some examples of these are:
- Bone implanted hearing aids
- Types of facial prostheses using titanium screws
- Minimally invasive therapy
- Some forms of laser treatment
- Cochlear implants
- Intravenous thrombolytic therapy
- Lithotripsy
- Heart, heart/lung, lung, liver transplants
- Stereotactic radiosurgery
- Drug treatment of peptic ulcer
- Drug treatment for anaemia in renal patients
- Progress in paediatric heart surgery
- Progress in treatment of certain children's cancers
- Progress in treatment of vulnerable or sick new born and older children
