Mr. Steinberg

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list the housing investment programme allocations for the City of Durham in each year since 1979 in actual terms and at 1991 prices.

Since 1981–82, authorities have been able to augment the borrowing power of their HIP allocations by using the prescribed proportion of their capital receipts. The HIP allocations made to Durham city council, and its total capital expenditure on housing, have been as follows:
