HL Deb 29 October 1990 vol 522 cc1763-4WA
Lord Orr-Ewing

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What conclusions they have received following the review of the Agricultural Mortgage Corporation which was announced on 21st June.

The Minister of State, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (Baroness Trumpington)

My right honourable friend the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has considered the comments which he has received in response to my earlier announcement about the Agricultural Mortgage Corporation very carefully. He is satisfied that it would be generally beneficial to remove the present statutory restrictions on the corporation, including those on the range of financial services which it can offer. This will require legislation, which he hopes to introduce at the first convenient opportunity.
