HC Deb 01 November 1990 vol 178 c736W
48. Mr. Vaz

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement on the numbers of drug seizures in Britain in 1990.

Mr. John Patten

In the period 1 January to 23 October 1990, Customs reported a provisional total of 6,471 seizures of controlled drugs in Great Britain. The latest information in relation to seizures made by the police is for 1989, figures for which are published, along with those for seizures by Customs, in table 2.3 of the Home Office statistical bulletin issue 24/90, "Statistics of the Misuse of Drugs: Seizures and Offenders dealt with, United Kingdom 1989", a copy of which is in the Library.
