HC Deb 08 May 1990 vol 172 c91W
Mr. Cousins

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether the staff presently employed by the agricultural intervention board at Kenton Bar, Newcastle, are included in the 350 new jobs announced for Newcastle; and whether they will be expected to apply competitively for those jobs.

Mr. Curry

The work which is now being carried out at Kenton Bar will remain there and other functions will be transferred to the total of 350 jobs. The existing staff, who are employed on a temporary basis, will be invited to apply for these permanent jobs which will be advertised in the local newspapers in line with civil service rules on open and fair recruitment.
