Mr. Brooke

Since I answered a similar question on 1 March 1990 there have been six deaths arising from the security situation in Northern Ireland. A part-time member of the UDR, a member of the RUC Reserve and a civilian were murdered by republican terrorists. Following the latter murder, I have proscribed the Irish People's Liberation Organisation. Two civilians were murdered by loyalist terrorists, and a further civilian died in the course of an attempted robbery. I know the House will join me in condemning the vicious and cowardly murder of the RUC Reserve Constable George Starrett, who was cruelly shot last night at his home in Armagh. This sickening attack on a man who was convalescing at home is yet one more example of the depravity of these evil men.
