23. Mr. John Marshall

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what are the levels of planned expenditure on the National Health Service in 1990–91 broken down by region.

Mr. Needham

A total of £1,035 million will be provided for the health and personal social services in Northern Ireland. Of this sum, £742,847 million will be allocated directly to the four health and social services boards. Excluding sums set aside for priority developments the balance will be allocated as follows: the Eastern board, £392,372 million, the Northern board, £123,891 million, the Southern board, £113,982 million and the Western board, £113,525 million.
