HC Deb 22 March 1990 vol 169 cc750-1W
51. Dr. Reid

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he has any plans to establish a national missing persons bureau; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Lloyd

My right hon. and learned Friend is currently examining two possible methods of collecting data about missing persons; the establishment of a national bureau and the possibility of putting missing persons on the planned replacement of the police national computer system which was referred to in the reply given to a question from the hon. and learned Member for Leicester, West (Mr. Janner) on 12 February 1990 at columns 6–7. He expects to receive advice on the police national computer option shortly.
