§ Mr. Wyn RobertsThe decision to proceed with a tunnel on the present alignment was taken in 1985. "Roads in Wales 1985" indicated that the estimated gross cost at November 1984 prices was £31.32 million and work was programmed to start between January 1988 and December 1990. Work on the four-year contract started in November 1989, at which time the estimated gross cost of the scheme was £79.4 million at October 1989 prices.
