HL Deb 28 June 1990 vol 520 c1808WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, when they banned high protein meal made from diseased animals in 1988, they informed other governments, in countries where farmers were buying the meal.

The Minister of State, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (Baroness Trumpington)

Other countries have been kept fully informed about the development of BSE in Britain, its causes and the measures we have taken to deal with the disease. Information has been disseminated through the European Commission and Office International des Epizooties, as well as by direct communication.
