HL Deb 28 June 1990 vol 520 c1808WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What are the grounds on which the advisers to the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, have recommended, and he has decided, that random sampling for BSE of cattle slaughtered for human consumption should not be carried out.

Baroness Trumpington

The Tyrrell Committee considered this work to be of low priority. It is important to concentrate available resources, in particular the research scientists having the necessary skills, on higher priority work.
