HL Deb 18 June 1990 vol 520 cc721-2WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many employees of private security firms have been appointed as special constables and whether, before being so appointed, they are vetted, and if so by whom.

Viscount Ullswater

: Information is not held centrally on the occupations of special constables, but chief constables are aware of the recommendation of the Police Advisory Board's Working Party on Special Constables that members of private security organisations should not be appointed.
