Mr. Strang

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, pursuant to his oral reply to the hon. Member for Welwyn Hatfield (Mr. Evans),Official Report, 13 June, column 272, if he will publish the evidence on which he based his assessment that Iraq and Libya are heading towards having a nuclear arsenal.

This was the assessment of my hon. Friend the Member for Welwyn Hatfield (Mr. Evans). My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs agreed with his second point—that we should be encouraging world opinion to bring about peace in the middle east.
