HL Deb 17 July 1989 vol 510 c683WA
The Earl of Ilchester

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, as stated by the Minister of State for Defence Procurement (Official Report, 4th May 1989, cols. 261–4) it is still their policy to offer surplus married quarters for sale at a discount to the armed forces, before they are placed on the general market; and, if so, whether this policy will apply to surplus married quarters at RAF Halton and RAF Biggin Hill.

The Minister of State for Defence Procurement (Lord Trefgarne)

It is still normally our policy to offer surplus MQs which are suitable to be sold individually for sale to service personnel at a discount. I cannot yet say whether surplus quarters at RAF Halton and RAF Biggin Hill, which are not due to close until 1995 and 1993 respectively, will be offered for sale in this way.
