HL Deb 17 July 1989 vol 510 c683WA
Lord Denning

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether "such orders" (Written Answer from Viscount Davidson, Official Report, col. 1057, 3rd July 1989) provided for the endowments to be used "partly" for the benefit of other localities; if so, what were those other localities; what was the "proportion of the trust assets" made available to them; and for what purpose.

Viscount Davidson

Such orders provided that the trust assets allocated for a Sunday school fund should be applied for the benefit of the particular parish served or formerly served by the voluntary school. The area of benefit did not extend to other localities. In general, the proportion of trust assets allocated for such a fund is three-fourteenths. The orders authorised the use of the capital and income for the provision within the parish of religious education by means of a Sunday school or otherwise, including the provision, or repair and improvement, of accommodation for a Sunday school.
