HC Deb 26 October 1988 vol 139 c209W
Mr. Beggs

To ask the Attorney-General if he will take steps to ensure that when a court establishes during wardship or child care hearings that a child has been abused, the child's alleged abuser will be subsequently prosecuted and denied access to the abused child and other children in the family.

The Attorney-General

In all wardship and child care hearings the best interests of the child or children shall be the paramount concern, and the courts will consider carefully in each case whether the child's abuser should be permitted to have access to the child or children. The Crown Prosecution Service will, when considering a possible prosecution, give careful consideration to the findings of any court that a child has been abused.
