To ask the Attorney-General what are the latest available figures for Her Majesty's Land Registry in the London pay area of the number of vacancies by grade and the proportion this is of the grade complement in London.

The Attorney-General

The Lord Chancellor's Department does not have grade complements and it is in budget holders' discretion whether to fill a vacancy. The table below shows the number of vacant posts which budget holders have indicated they wish to fill and the percentage that represents of the total number of available posts. The information is given as accurately as possible without incurring disproportionate cost.

(a) The following Land Registry staff are in receipt of, or after 1 year's service will become eligible for, a local pay addition:

A total of 642 members of staff employed by the Crown Prosecution Service receive local pay additions, as follows:

Local pay additions are paid to eligible staff employed in the London pay area, but excluding St. Albans and Guildford. The total annual cost is estimated at £315,600.
