To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make an assessment of the level of asbestos fibres in the air of Commons Court.

Mr. Chope

After completion of work to remove the asbestos in this part of the House, air sampling test were undertaken in over 40 locations on five separate dates between 26 August and 9 September 1988. On each occasion the reading was below the minimum safety level, that is less than 0.01 fibres/ml.
