HC Deb 26 October 1988 vol 139 c226W
Mr. Butler

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what information he has on the proportion of sampled water supplies in England which are found to be unfit.

Mr. Moynihan

All public supplies of drinking water in the United Kingdom are safe to drink. A number of supplies regularly exceed limits set by the EC drinking water directive for certain parameters, but medical advisers consider that these supplies do not constitute a danger to public health.
