To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what are the latest available figures for his Department in the London pay area of the number of vacancies by grade and the proportion this is of the grade complement in London.

London boroughs

Barnet, Croydon, Hammersmith, Islington, Lambeth, Wandsworth, Westminster.

Other local authority areas

Harlow and Tunbridge Wells—Typists and Typing Managers only.

The estimated annual cost of local pay additions in the Department is £1.5 million.
