To ask the Secretary of State for Transport by what date he expects the construction of the proposed A1-M1 link road to serve the Dearne Valley area to be completed.

This is a local road scheme for which Barnsley borough council is responsible as highway authority. I understand that the council plans to construct the scheme in stages, with the final section due for completion in the mid-1990s.
