HC Deb 19 October 1988 vol 138 c943W
Ms. Gordon

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the cost of purchasing land required for the Limehouse link road; and what is the expected cost of building the Limehouse link road.

Mr. Trippier

LDDC estimates that at outturn prices the Limehouse link road will cost £141.5 million to construct. The cost of associated land acquisition will be determined by the outcome of current compulsory purchase orders and of statutory compensation procedures.

Ms. Gordon

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if his Department or the London Docklands development corporation is providing finances for the building of the Limehouse link road; what are the respective sums being made available from all sources; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Trippier

The costs of constructing the Limehouse link will be met wholly by the LDDC. The corporation itself will decide what proportion of these costs will be met from its Government grant, and what proportion from land disposal receipts.
