§ Mrs. ChalkerThe most recent estimates indicate that the GNP of the Falkland Islands increased threefold from 1986–87 to 1987–88, from approximately £9.9m to approximately £30m. I expect this increase to be sustained in 1988–89. The islands' welcome prosperity has enabled the Falkland Island Government to finance an increasing number of its own development projects in fisheries, local infrastructure and fanning.
