HL Deb 18 October 1988 vol 500 cc1115-6WA
Lord Auckland

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What action is being taken in cases where the earnings information submitted to the Department of Social Security by employers for the year 1987–88, on which National Insurance benefit entitlement is based, is known to be incorrect.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Social Security (Lord Skelmersdale)

If employers are unable to provide correct information on earnings for 1987–88, National Insurance benefit entitlement will be assessed using such information as is available. We plan to introduce legislation to enable these assessments to be made in due course.
