HL Deb 18 October 1988 vol 500 c1116WA
Lord Killearn

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether it is true, as reported, that the United Kingdom is the only developed country in which the cost of electricity is rising; and why this is so if (as claimed) our productivity is improving.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Energy (Baroness Hooper)

Other developed countries have experienced recent increases in electricity prices. Prices in England ands Wales remain in the mid-range of both world and European prices.
