§ Mr. NichollsAt 4 November 1988 there were 73,000 trainees on employment training all of whom were receiving employment training allowances. Information on the number of trainees starting on project-based training places or on training placements with employers is not available. However, statistics are being collected on the number of trainees in training on project-based places and on placements with employers and the first comprehensive information should be available in January.

§ Mr. NichollsHelp towards the travel costs of people participating in employment training and YTS is already available. The present arrangements, which apply throughout Great Britain, reimburse trainees all their travel costs over £5 per week in the case of employment training, and £3 per week for non-employed trainees on YTS.
§ Mr. LeightonTo ask the Secretary of State for Employment if he will list those local authorities that are acting as managing agents for employment training and those which have declined to do so.
