HC Deb 18 May 1988 vol 133 c470W
Ms. Quin

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland whether the Forestry Commission is planning to carry out or commission any surveys to locate areas where further afforestation in Caithness and Sutherland can best be integrated with other interests.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

The Highlands regional council set up a working party to prepare a land use strategy for Caithness and Sutherland. The Forestry Commission attends the working party as an observer and provides advice based on information the commission currently holds. The commission has no plans to carry out any separate surveys of land use in the area.
