HC Deb 18 May 1988 vol 133 c470W
Mr. Malcolm Bruce

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will issue guidance to health boards on the provision of information to parents of deaf children and all children with special educational needs.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

Information to parents is already available from the health professionals who care for their deaf children. The Scottish Home and Health Department issued guidance to health boards in 1982 on the identification, assessment and recording of children with handicap and with special educational needs, and I do not consider that further guidance is required.
