HC Deb 16 May 1988 vol 133 cc348-9W
Mr. Graham

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many employers have been taken to court in Scotland in each of the last five years for failure to implement the one-third quota of disabled people in their firms.

Mr. Lang

I assume the hon. Member is referring to the 3 per cent. quota.

There have been no such prosecutions in Scotland under the Disabled Persons (Employment) Act 1944 during the last five years.

Mr. Graham

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the take-up in Scotland of grants available to firms to assist them with adaptions to help them employ registered disabled people; and if he will list the firms and the sums allocated to each firm.

Mr. Lang

Grants totalling £22,343 were made to 11 employers in Scotland during 1987–88 to assist registered disabled people into employment. It is not Government policy to publish details of individual employers benefiting.
