§ Mr. GrahamTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what wildlife surveys or environmental assessments the Forestry Commission is carrying out or commissioning, or requiring of applicants for forestry grant, in order to determine the effect of new afforestation proposals in Sutherland and Caithness on the wildlife populations of that area.
§ Lord James Douglas-HamiltonThe Forestry Commission is consulting the Nature Conservancy Council at present over all afforestation proposals in Sutherland and Caithness. This enables the council to set out its views on the likely effect of afforestation on wildlife populations.
