§ Mr. Peter BottomleyThere are no plans to make the wearing of pedal cycle safety helmets compulsory. It is sensible for cyclists to wear helmets. Almost half of cycle casualties suffered some sort of head injury. Three quarters of all cycle deaths involve head injuries.
