To ask the Secretary of State for Transport whether those persons whose vehicles have been allocated cherished registration numbers as a result of criminal action will be permitted to retain them.

Cherished registration numbers found by the Department to have been obtained through criminal action are normally withdrawn from circulation. Requests to reinstate such numbers are granted where the Department is satisfied that the keeper of the vehicle bearing a particular number acquired that number in good faith and that there is no risk of other claims to it arising.
