§ Mrs. RumboldThe handbooks of education unit costs published by the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy for each of the financial years 1982–83 to 1985–86 set out a full analysis of revenue income received by local education authorities in England, both by sector of the education service and by type of income, compiled from LEAs' returns to the Department of the Environment of revenue outturn. A handbook giving similar information for the 1986–87 financial year will be published soon. A detailed breakdown of LEA receipts406W beyond 1986–87 is not available. Details of research council receipts for the years 1982–83 to 1986–87 have been published in the annual appropriation accounts.

§ Mrs. RumboldThe totals for receipts for 1985–86 and 1986–87 implied by my answer of 15 July at columns373–74, are, respectively, £1,077 million and £1,224 million; the comparable figures of £999 million and £1,144 million given in my right hon. Friend's answer on 27 May, at columns 375–76, incorporated part, but not all, of the relevant receipts accruing to the research councils.
