§ Mr. DobsonTo ask the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if he will list those recommendations made by Körner which applied to private hospitals; and when they were implemented;
533W(2) what plans he has to collect information suggested by Körner from private hospitals on the same basis as the information collected from National Health Service hospitals.
§ Mrs. CurrieThere are no Körner recommendations which apply to private hospitals. Körner recommends that information be collected about NHS patients treated in private hospitals under contractual arrangements, such information to be on the same basis as that collected about NHS hospital stays. I refer the hon. Member to paragraph 8.30(b) of the first Körner report, a copy of which is available in the Library.
There are no plans to introduce the Körner recommendations about NHS patients and facilities to private patients in private hospitals. The information that we require from the Körner system is intended to help us in running the National Health Service.
