To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland, pursuant to the answer given on 24 June to the hon. Member for East Kilbride, if he will give the dates of each of the occasions in the last 12 months the Minister of State, the hon. Member for Galloway and Upper Nithsdale (Mr. Lang), met officials of the East Kilbride development corporation; and whether the housing policies of the development corporation were discussed on any of those occasions.

[holding answer 7 July 1988]: I have met officials of East Kilbride development corporation on a number of occasions in the last 12 months. Details are as follows:

  • 1 September 1987—Visit to Motorola during tour of factories in Glasgow area.
  • 16 October 1987—East Kilbride 40th anniversary dinner.
  • 27 November 1987—Informal lunch with chairmen, chief executives and managing directors of the five new town development corporations.
  • 3 June 1988—Informal dinner with chairmen, chief executives and managing directors of the five new town development corporations.
  • 7 June 1988—Motorola press conference to announce opening of design centre.

The only occasions when housing policies were discussed were my meetings with chairmen, chief executives and managing directors on 27 November 1987
